You are not the problem
If you have spent an evening being told to “try again”, you are in good company. The app is built for one narrow path – a recent UK passport, a modern phone, a settled UK address history and perfect lighting. Step outside that path and it has nowhere to go. These are the reasons people tell us most often.
Older phones, phones without NFC, a case that blocks the reader, or a chip the app simply cannot read – the most common dead end.
Lighting, glasses, a passport photo that is years old, a beard or a haircut that was not there when the photo was taken.
A thin credit file, a recent move, years spent abroad or a name that has changed – the app has nothing to check you against, so it stops.
The app supports a narrow set of documents. Plenty of perfectly valid identity documents fall outside it.
A middle name on one document, an initial on another, a maiden name on a third. Humans understand this; the app does not.

The only alternative route
Under the Economic Crime and Corporate Transparency Act 2023 every director and person with significant control must verify their identity with Companies House. There are exactly two ways to do it: GOV.UK One Login, or verification through an Authorised Corporate Service Provider registered with Companies House. Vaulex Group is that ACSP.
