Privacy for Directors
The Companies House register is public and searchable by anyone, and it publishes an address for every company and every director. Every Vaulex Group plan gives your company a registered office and every director a service address at Vaulex House, Penarth – so home addresses stay where they belong: private.
See plans & pricingHow the addresses work →Every letter, on every plan, scanned to your dashboard – no per-item fees, no monthly cap.
Filed by an Authorised Corporate Service Provider through our direct Companies House connection, with identity checks to the Companies House standard.
Phone numbers, mail scanning, websites, email and cloud drive – built and run by our own team, never handed to a third party.
The uncomfortable part
Companies House publishes, for every director and person with significant control: full name, month and year of birth, nationality, occupation and a correspondence address. Use your home address and this is what anyone with a phone sees – no login, no reason required, and no record that they ever looked.
Not the people you would choose.
A dispute over a refund or a review becomes a knock at your front door, or a letter addressed to your family.
They act on the address on the register – and they arrive in person, sometimes chasing a previous occupant or a company you have never heard of.
A director’s name, date of birth and home address in one place is the starting kit for identity fraud and “we know where you live” scams.
The register is scraped constantly and resold. Removing your address at source does not recall the copies already sold on.
Anyone with a grievance and a search bar. Your home should not be the first result.
A former partner, a former landlord, a former business associate. A public home address undoes a move.
Official-looking post, doorstep callers and parcels for “the company” – at home, in front of the people you live with.
Once published it is copied to dozens of sites and preserved in the register’s historic filings. A change of address later does not delete the past.
For anyone with a reason to keep their address private – and that is more people than admit it – the register is not the place to publish it.
Why it matters
Companies House publishes the register for free, and it is one of the most-scraped databases in the country. Once your home address is on it, you no longer control where it ends up.
Customers, competitors, disgruntled parties and cold callers can pull your home address from a free public search in seconds – no reason required.
Data resellers scrape the register and republish your address across dozens of sites. Changing it at source later does not pull back the copies they already took.
A registered office at your house invites official-looking post, letters meant for strangers at the address and doorstep callers – plus a personal-safety risk you cannot undo once it is public.
Three things catch new directors out.
Every company must show a registered office on the public register – it appears on the company’s free, public profile page.
Each director and person with significant control lists a correspondence address. Use your home address and it is published to the world.
The register is an archive. An address on a past filing stays in the public record even after you change it – which is why it pays to start with the right address on day one.
The solution
The fix is not a PO box or a mail-drop – it is a named, regulated building that stands as your company’s address on the public record instead of your home.
Privacy is not an add-on here – it is the product.
It is fixable. On every switch plan we prepare and file the registered office and service address changes for you, and your new addresses take effect as soon as Companies House accepts the filing. Historic documents do stay on the register – Companies House runs a separate suppression process for personal information in older filings, and we will point you at the right route when you join.
